Hello Everyone! Today I'll share the steps which you can follow to check if there is a Leakage or Shorting on your device and how you can fix them.
  • In order to check the MST (Main Supply Track) of your device's PCB (Printed Circuit Board), place the red wire of your multi-meter on the +ve pin of the charging connector, and then check all the components one by one that are there in the MST.
    • In Leakage Condition - Suppose there is a Leakage condition in your PCB then check the Polarized and Non-Polarized Capacitors that are there in Parallel Connection. You'll hear a Beep Sound from one of their sides and will get some values from their other sides.
    • In Shorting Condition - In this condition you'll hear a Beep Sound at both the ends of the Polarized and Non-Polarized Capacitors (which are there in Parallel Connection)
  • In both the above conditions you are supposed to take out the Capacitors( of both types) one by one and after every removal you need to check the PCB again to confirm if the Leakage or Shorting has been resolved.
    • If you find that the issue has been resolved after the removal of the Capacitor then it means that Capacitor was Leak or Short and keeping it aside you can resold the rest of the Capacitors carefully back to their places. You can also resold a new Capacitor(you can take it from any other PCBs that are of no use to you) in place of a faulty one.
  • Suppose after trying the above Component Removal Steps the Leakage or Shorting issue is still there on your PCB then there is a high probability that the problem could be from PFO, Power IC, Charging IC or Interface IC.
    • In this case also, you'll be required to remove these ICs one by one and check if the problem has been resolved.
    • Suppose after you remove any of the above mentioned IC and find that the problem of Leakage or Shorting has been resolved then you'll need to do HRC on that faulty IC. HRC means Heat Reball Change. After doing HRC you can then place that IC back to it's position.
  • Open Condition - Okay lets talk about this condition now. This condition arises due to the breakage in the connection of +ve and -ve track of the battery connector.
    • In order to solve this, use a charger and then check the charging output voltage of 3-4 volt on the nearby components of the charging connector.
    • After you find the 3-4 volt on a nearby component following the above step, use a jumper wire and then connect that component with the broken track to get it fixed.
  • Ok Condition - Let's suppose if you get an Ok Condition (Ok Deflection) on the battery connector but still the phone is still not getting switched ON, then-
    • In this condition first try to use a charger and see if it works.
    • If the set shows charging indication while charging but is somehow not getting switched ON then there could be a problem in the On/Off switch or in the On/Off switch track.
    • In this condition first check the deflection on the On/Off switch if the deflection is Ok then check it's track.
    • If you find that both the On/Off switch and it's track are in Ok condition but you are not getting 2.8 voltage on the On/Off switch then this could be due to the problem with the Power IC. If this is the case then you'll need to do the HRC on the Power IC.
    • Let's suppose the phone doesn't shows charging indication while charging but you are getting the output voltage of 2.8 volt on the On/Off switch then in this condition the problem could from it's operation system's software (OS). In order to resolve this you'll need to do Software Flashing on the phone.
