Hello Homies!

Today I'm going to let you know the possible reasons for your phone being dead, be it an ordinary 90's mobile phone, a smart phone or even a tablet and will also let you know about an MST (Main Supply Track) that will help you all trace out various types of issues so that you can fix them.
  1. If you got a phone which is not turning ON, then the first step which you must do is to change it's battery and check if it finally switches ON or not.
  2. Let's suppose if this doesn't do anything and the phone is still in a dead state then we'll go for the 2nd step which is to check if there is any kind of carbon stuck at the tips of the battery connector and on the battery itself. If you see a carbon in any of these places then try cleaning it, you can use a brush and white petrol(VERY LITTLE) in this case.
  3. After following the above step if you find that the phone is still not switching ON then check if the battery is able to connect properly and that there is no loose connection between the battery connector and the battery
    • In this case also check the deflection on the battery tips with the help of a multi-meter, the output should be 3.6v+ if it's less than that then you must boost the battery using a battery booster.
  4. If you've followed all the above basic (but yet important) steps and find that the phone is still in a dead state then check the deflection on the battery connector tips. In this case there could be 4 scenarios that you may find -
    • Shorting Condition - If you check the connector's tips with multi-meter and you hear a Beep Sound then it means that the PCB is in Shorting Condition.
    • Leakage Condition - If you get some values from both the sides of the battery connector's tips then it means that it is in Leakage Condition.
    • Open Condition - If you don't get any values from both the sides of the connector's tips then it means that the PCB is in Open Condition.
    • Ok Condition - If you get some value from one side of the connector's tips and no value from the other side then it means that the PCB is in Ok Condition.
  5. Main Supply Track (MST) -
    • The components and IC which are directly linked to the +ve supply of the battery connector is known as Main Supply Track or MST in short.
    • PFO, Power Section, Charging Section and as well as Interface Section are a part of MST.
    • MST also contains Polarized and Non-Polarized Capacitors.
  6. If you find Shorting or Leakage problem in any of the dead phone set then it is mainly due to the faulty IC in MST or due to the component/s in a parallel track which has Shorting or Leakage problem. I've included the below picture for a clear understanding.
