Fix Computer's No Display Issue

Sometimes our computer got turned on, but the displays show nothing and gives us a blank screen or “no signal” error even after checking that all the wires are properly plugged in. Talk about myself I have a lot of experience with this problem.

While there could be numbers of possible issues which creates that problem and prevents your computer to boot up normally, most common are due to the RAM card failure. This problem is very common due to dust residing on the RAM card slot which creates loose connection between RAM and the RAM slot.

Some Other Problems Which Arise Due To A Dusty RAM are:
  • No Display
  • Blue Screen of Dump
  • System Freeze
  • GPU Overheating
So in order to fix these types of issues you just need to take out the RAM card from your CPU and with the help of a paint brush clean the metal parts (gold contacts at the bottom of the RAM stick) and the RAM card slot.

With the help of eraser and Isopropyl alcohol you can easily get the dirt off to the RAM. Cleaning a RAM quarterly is sufficient to make your RAM's life longer.

If you are using a eraser for cleaning then rub the eraser horizontally on the gold contacts nicely and correctly without damaging any components.

When you are done with the above step then it’s time to clean the RAM’s upper body. Using Isopropyl alcohol is a very good way to clean the dirt and carbon particles from the RAM because it’s non-conductive and safe to use. To do so, drop some amount of alcohol on the RAM and try to clean it by the use of cotton bud.

Points To Note:
  • If you have two RAMs installed in your computer, then remove one of them and try to turn on your computer. If your PC still doesn't shows the display then remove that RAM from that slot and install it into another slot. Still doesn't work, then try using your 2nd RAM Stick on both the slots (vice versa).
  • If you still face that problem that means there is a possibility that your RAM got dead, If your RAM is dead, your motherboard will not be able to start itself until you replace it with a new one. I would recommend to first try borrowing a compatible “Ram stick” from one of your friends and installing it into your computer to confirm if your RAM created that problem or not.
If the above steps doesn't work for you then there might be some other type of issue on your computer and you would need to take your system to a nearby repair shop.

Extra Advice:

This problem may also occur if you computer heats up very much. So try hooking up an extra cooling fan to your PC to reduce the heat. Keeping your PC in a well ventilated area such as close to a window is always better. If your PC is very expensive, try installing a liquid cooling system to it.

I hope this would help solving your PC's display issues.
