No need to worry from Windshield Crack. This trick will help you fix it by yourself.
If you are trying to figure out how to remove scratches from the windshield , you've come to the right place.
When stones or other objects hit the windshield, they can leave damage in the form of splinters in the glass or cracks due to impact.
A damaged windshield can represent a great risk for the safety of those who are in the car. A small crack would be enough to cause the entire breakdown of the windshield and at this point, in addition to any damage to the passengers of the car, you will have to replace the whole windshield.
The replacement of the windshield can be expensive and varies greatly depending on the car model and the dealer while the costs for the repair are far more contained.
Do-it-yourself kits will not allow you to get the same results as a professional, but it is a cheap enough solution for small damages.
The windshield repair is performed thanks to particular resins (a silicone type sealant) that are injected into the damaged area. However remember that the possibility of being able to eliminate scratches or chipping from the windscreen depends above all on the size of the lesion. When the windshield scratches seem small, many motorists tend to ignore the problem and delay the repair, nothing could be more wrong, as what appears to be a small crack now, may turn into a huge crack later, that may cover even much larger area of your windshield. That's why it us important to take an appropriate action as soon as you notice a crack.
This article will explain how to assess the risks and repair the windshield in case it is the best choice.
1. Buy A Special Repair Kit
And remember in any case, it is always a good idea to read the instructions attached to the product you bought and verify the need to satisfy particular requirements and always wear protective gloves.
2. Park Your Car Under Direct Sunlight
The resin with which you will have to fill the crack must be hardened under heat.
So, it is a good idea to park the vehicle under direct sunlight or in a warm environment. Ideally, you want to work at a higher temperature environment.
Alternatively, you can buy a UV lamp or can even use your hair dryer to harden the resin.
3. Clean The Repair Point
There will be a pin or a mine included in the kit. You can use it to remove any pieces of glass or dirt that may be present in the chip.
4. Attach A Seal Tape
Get your seal tape and peal off from one of the sides. Now attach it onto the windshield in such a way that the crack openly appears in the center of the round tape.
Now, peal off the other side off the tape and lineup the pedestal on to it.
Insert the resin tube tnto the pedestal's hole and squeeze to release 3/4th portion of the liquid jelly.
5. Create A Vacuum Space For Air Bubbles
After the resin is inserted, remove the resin tube and take the syringe and put It inside the pedestal's hole and pull up the liver this will suck all the air out from the crack into the syringe. Leave this as it is for about 10 minutes.
Now as you let this sit you need to knock round the crack area calmly, so that any air bubbles that are there can escape into the syringe.
6. Use Syringe To Put Air Pressure
After 10 minutes, remove the syringe and let outer air get inside the pedestal pipe.
And now put the syringe back into the pedestal hole and this time push the liver down. This will put air pressure onto the resin liquid, forcing it to get deep inside the crack. Let this sit for about 20 minutes.
7. Remove Pedestal & Adhesive Tape
20 minutes later, remove the syringe and with the help of a safety razor remove the pedestal along with the adhesive tape from the windshield.
8. Use The Film Provided
Now use the remeaning part of the resin and put it onto the crack. Take the square shape film that is provided and place it on to the crack. With the help of the safety razor squeeze out the air bubbles if any.
Let this sit for about 15 minutes under direct sunlight. Alternatively, use your UV light or hair dryer too hardened the resin.
Remember, not to use any other types of film because they could prevent Sun/UV rays from filtering and hardening the liquid adhesive.
9. Scrap Off The Leftovers
Now this is the last step of the process. After 15 minutes have elapsed remove the film from the crack area (which by now should not be visible) and with the help of that safety razor scrap off the extra resin that appears on the top of the windshield.
That's it! You just repaired your windshield cracks by yourself while saving yourself a lot of money by avoiding replacement.
Just remember to take the action as soon as you see any cracks on your windshield otherwise it may turn into a huge crack that may cover even much larger area of your windshield.
Also, if you drive or open the doors before the resin is completely hardened it may too increase the chances of the cracks widening.
