Are you scared of new heavy challans? No need to be now, just read your rights here.
A few weeks after the new Motor Vehicle Act came into force, reports of heavy fines for breaking traffic rules became common.
While personally I do believe it is the right step and feel very happy of this change due to my own numerous horrific experiences in the past with many idiotic drivers, I do feel at the same time that everyone should know about their rights just in case if they get caught due to not having the below documents handy:
Registration Certificate (RC),
Pollution Under Control Certificate, Driving License (DL) and,
Permit Certificate, etc.
Also note that this grace period has been given to driver so that he/she can bring the documents and show them to the officials i.e. your documents should have been made available to you before the date of challan. Don't treat this grace period as the time to register for the said documents as this will be invalid.
Many of us are so busy in our day to day life that we do not get time to know about our basic rights. I would like to thank my cousins - mostly lawyers (yes I am lucky 😜) and a special thanks to Mr. Lovejeet Singh Sappra (an extremely intelligent Law Student) who shared this information to help everyone be aware about their rights.
